Hello!

I haven't published anything in years in deviantart. It came to a point where I was too busy to post anything new but on my portfolio and by the time I got some time back I wasn't using dA anymore; I had moved on to my portfolio and ArtStation

I've kept myself busy professionally speaking and got a lot of jobs and contacts thanks to those platforms but in an effort to reach more people and feedback I started posting on Instagram and will reiginite DeviantArt, about 3.5 years after dropping its use, which seem more ideal for the job. Also since time is tight I will open up to shorter, smoother jobs in a bit.

I am going to gradually publish the works in my current portfolio, starting with the oldest, and slowly catch up to where I am now. You'll see some works from 2016, but the majority of the stuff is going to be late 2017 and 2018. The gap compared to my 2014-2015 stuff currently here is significant so I hope you still like it!

By the way I received a lot of questions about exchanges, free commissions and using my images for projects. Sadly I cannot do that. I am busy already as it is and most of these pictures are copyrighted by third parties or are used for promotional purposes. Sharing and non-profit use is allowed but always crediting me back, as it should be with any art you use. For commercial uses or professional work please contact me through my website's contact section, not dA. I will post stuff here but won't be active enough to quickly get back at you.

Sorry for the long post!

Just a quick update to thank the person/people who proposed "Over The Volcano" as Daily Deviation of the day (Sci-Fi category) and Shue13 who featured it!

The concept itself is the fastest I have on my dA or portfolio which is awesome, best hours-dedicated-to-attention ratio I ever had! I'm happy you guys like it. Thanks!

Will keep you all posted!

As you might have seen I bulk-uploaded many works at once since I neglected dA for a good while. Been busy with several stuff but will try to keep it more constant from now on.

I also got a custom domain for my portfolio and now it's somewhat shorter and doesn't have adds. I also started a new blog and I may share some entries with the dA profile but won't spam too much either, mainly to keep track of my own stuff and provide some news and resources relating art in entertainment, tutorials, reference artists and some more. If you're interested check it out at my new webpage at www.joanpiquellorens.com (That's what I keep updated the most since it's my professional show-off tool).

I've also been at b'Ars VFX and Arts International fair at my hometown of Barcelona and it was really cool to see, hear and attend many cool first-tier artists like Ryan Church and Virginie Bourdin amogst many, many others. Will probably write a short review at some point in the near future. Besides that, nothing really new. My profile's just passed a hundred watches barely a year after I started my training seriously. I have no words to express how awesome this is and I'm so so glad you like my stuff enough to keep track of what I do. I'll try to keep on improving and not dissapoint you all :P.

See you next time. I'll be uploading new stuff this week both in my portfolio and here. Cheers!

Well, the 6 months of internship ended up just being that. Pro-tip: don't ever take unpaid internships. Use that time to improve whatever skill you're trying to promote by yourself. Time will be better invested.

Now there may be some interesting things in the future but all are unconfirmed so for now I'll just keep drawing and painting whenever I can and posting it here. I got a "new" portfolio website (joanpiquellorens.wix.com/joanp…) soon with a custom domain name (yay!). By the way, if you plan on building a website but can't be arsed learning HTML, Dreamwaver and/or Wordpress, Wix is something you might want to try. I like it and will keep using it with the domain once I get it, you can do some wicked things with little to no effort if you can handle any graphic software.

I'll keep you posted. Thanks for watching and reading!

I started an internship as a concept artist in a local studio here in Barcelona so I thought I'd upload a link to my portfolio and newly created blog here. There you may find illustration, concepts and designs I made these last weeks and years that I never updated to dA. From now on I'll keep both this and the blog updated :).

So far I'm a couple or three weeks into what will be a summer internship until September. I'm two ECTS credits short to completely and officially finish my BA in Fine Arts which took 5 years of my academic life and it's been, generally, a disappointing experience although it's had its good moments and has helped me out managing and learning things myself, since nobody else seemed to want to teach us the working basics on an artistic environment.

Back to the internship. It's in a studio called Codiwans (although the video game department is soon to be renamed) that's just developed a game called "Animal Zombies" for Android, iPhone and tablets, which is quite amazing despite its aparent simplicity.

The project they assigned me to it's something a bit bigger though. Hopefully it will be available next year, since the studio is small and they can only put so many people on it at once. It's a full-3D arcade-platform game that will be available for PC, Mac, Android and mobile devices called "Stress Taxi". It does look promising for casual and arcade lovers and should launch on Steam when it's done. For now I'm learning a lot here making props, concepts, texture mapping and all the planning and thinking with the creative crowd. I have my reserves for this kind of unpaid internships (been there, done that), which basically mean free labor, yet I still think I'll learn a ton of stuff I wouldn't experience in any academy or degree in the specific professional place I want to be.

Sorry for the wall of text. Will try to keep my posts short next time. I'll keep you updated.
